The Bones Foretell
The Bones Foretell the future, they reveal the past, and they unlock the
mysteries of the world around. Now I don't profess to have the ability
to see into the future, or know all of the past, nor can I magically
unlock the mysteries of the world around. I can however write about the
possibilities in the future, research the past, and learn about the
world around, all of which I plan to do in this little column. I am
going to go by my more popular nom de plume oysteinsevag. Now I am not a
writer by trade nor do I plan to become one. I live somewhere between
today and tomorrow, but in literal terms either in Germany or Maryland.
I am a college student, studying of all things Economics, which I love
with a passion only slightly smaller than my love of reading and learning.
I chose to call this little series of probably long essays The Bones,
because the women in my family could all throw and read the bones, my
great grandmother being the most recent oracle. Perhaps one day I will
pick up the practice as well, we shall see. However, in my future there
seems to be the motivation to speculate about this great world of
fantasy writing in which anything is possible. Maybe through this column
I can channel some of the magical energy and feed it on to all of you.
In the meantime expect rants on not only Eragon, the Movie, but also on
other authors and works that are up and coming or established a
comparison between them all. You can also expect a few references to the
following authors so read up on Carl Sagan, Issac Asimov, Dr. Suess, E.
Nesbit, C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, and anyone from the Norton's English
Literature Anthology.
Finally as to this series of editorials it will be 100% sporadic, I must
have some sort of motivation to write, and for the next few weeks expect
something new. I am always in need of inspiration so just send an idea
to my editor-otherwise known as Robby; he will see that I get it. I hope
you enjoy, and respond to my long and unusual rants, and as long as you
keep reading I will keep writing.
